Preparing for Birth

Whether you’re planning on having a C section, a natural childbirth, or planning on using medication, we all can do a little something to prepare ourselves for the birth of our child.

I’m talking about labor. Childbirth.

Some, okay- a lot is out of control. Just because we plan something one way doesn’t mean it will go that way. In fact, in might go exactly the opposite. We have to be prepared for the possibility of that, too.
But many things we can control. How tense or relaxed we are. Our confidence level. Our state of mind. Our strength. What we believe our body can and can’t do.  If we’re mentally, emotionally, and physically prepared.
If you’re having  a C- Section:
If you’re planning a natural-drug free childbirth:
Positive birth affirmations (and even if you’re not- these affirmations might be helpful!) These reminders and encouragements might help you get through labor.
Have confidence in yourself. A great article on building your confidence here.
Be educated. Know your stuff.

Simple Exercises such as squats, walking, tailor sitting can help prepare your muscles.
Visualize the birth you want.  Trying meditation, yoga, or simple breathing exercises might be helpful to you in relaxing your mind and body. You might also find reading birth stories to be helpful.

What are some things you’ve done (or are doing) to prepare for childbirth?

  1. What a lovely blog! Thank you for sharing. I love your affirmations. I’m a HypnoBirthing practitioner and am pregnant with my 2nd and greatly look forward to a beautiful birth this time around. Wishing you a beautiful birth, too 🙂
