  1. Hopefully we can enter even though we haven't started solids yet. We plan on starting at 6 months. I would love to have this book for when we start!

  2. We started Lauren on solids at 6 months. At first we tried cereal and she liked it but only for the first day! Not too long after that we tried bananas and apples. To this day those are her favorite things to eat!

  3. I have not started Ella, my 5 month old on solids yet…one more month and we will. My 5 year old was 6 months old also, and she started on the rice cereal.

  4. Our little one hasn't come yet, but I hear from friends (like the moms above wrote) that 6 months is usually when they start. I can't wait to find out what works for my baby!

  5. I started Madelynn on rice cereal at 4 months. She ate that once a day for a month. Then I slowly started adding veggies. The first one of those she ate was pureed peas. She really liked them. Especially cold.
Now she eats all sorts of vegetables. I've made a few things home made. But I'm paranoid about carrots because of the nitrates and peas and green beans because of the skin-like outside that they have. I have made peaches, bananas, and sweet potatoes. But as much as she's starting to eat now I'm definatly going to make more. She eats 2 jars of baby food and 1/4 to 1/2 cup of baby cereal a day now.

  6. i would love to win this. I have baby #3 that I will be starting on solids in a few weeks (she is 5 months old). I started my 3 year old on solids at 5 months (rice cereal) and didnt make my own food for him. My now 22 month old I started on solids at 5 months (also rice cereal) and started to make my own veggies and fruit for her. This baby I plan to make it all for her!!! So excited to do this, but would love this book to help me out 🙂 Thanks!

  7. Matty hasn't started eating any solids yet, unless a taste of cool whip counts. When he does, though, he will find Heaven on Mommy's plate…Mexican food!!! Love it! This is great! I'm planning on trying my hand at baby food, and this is exactly what I need!

  8. Perfect timing I have been looking up baby food books to buy. I'm wanting to learn more on making the food not only to help save money, but for a healthier option. We just started feeding Aubrey solids at 6 mths and started with green beans first. Needless to say after lot's of tries she is not a fan. I'm hoping homemade will make a difference. Thanks for the advice.

  9. I started feeding my girls solids around six months. I never made my own baby food though! This time around I'm planning to making my own, so this book would be perfect~

  10. I started both my kids at about 5 months on solids. Ace ate bananas first and Sim ate peas. Now, at 9 months, she loves to eat peas whole just out of a bowl!

I've tried making my own baby food and failed miserably. Maybe for baby #3?

  11. Hi, I'm new! I just added your blog to my reading list yesterday. 🙂
This is a great giveaway! I haven't started feeding solids to my ds3 yet. He is almost 5 months old (well I take that back, he has “tasted” organic oatmeal) and I plan to start solids when he turns 6 months old. With my others (I have 4 kids) I started them at 4 months just like “everyone else did”. Thanks to the internet I now know to wait. 🙂

  12. i started feeding my daughter at 5.5 months. i had always hoped to wait until she was 6 months but the look on her face everytime we were eating changed my mind!

We started her with sweet potatoes + breastmilk then worked our way up to avocado, carrots, etc.

When she was 7 months we started with home-ground grains like brown rice, kamut, spelt, and barley.

  13. I started feeding my daughter cereal at 5.5 mths. You could tell she wanted to eat real food by then as she used to make faces whenever we were eating. This would be great as we eat alot of natural foods in our home. We have allergies so we dont eat alot of processed foood.

  14. I gave my 2 oldest boys cereal at 4 months and then jarred baby food at 6 months… I think they both had apples first. I plan on doing the same with my 3 son next month!

  15. I'm due in Sept and want to make food for my new born. I'm trying to go green or at least little green LOL With my 2 year old I remember her 1st food was apple sauce at 2 1/2 months old. MIL suggested it. She seemed to like it a lot.

  16. I haven't started Ada on solids yet (considering she's only 2 1/2 months). But so far the only book I have is “Baby food for Dummies” and I would love to get a better cookbook, like this one.

  17. We started our daughter Ariella on cereal at 3 months. This is rather early, but she was always watching us eat and following the fork to our mouths, grabbing at the food as well as opening her mouth for her turn to eat, then crying when she didn't get anything. At 4 months we started pureeing our own fruits and veggies which she loved! I am always hunting for more recipes now that she has turned 9 months and is feeding herself. It is so wonderful to make your own food for your child, as well as try new recipes for yourself too!

  18. Emma started eating solids at 4 months. It was simply just rice cereal. She started veggies with green beans at 5 months and fruits (pears) 2 weeks later. Now she eats all pureed food (homemade) and yo baby yogurt at almost 8 months.

  19. I'd love to win this! We are just starting babyfoods, so far she's had some cereal, sweet potato and squash. I plan on making her food. So this would come in handy!

  20. With my first two, I started them around 6 months, with rice cereal. This next little one, we're going to go with 6 months again, but start with veggies instead of grains.

  21. I just started my little girl on solids a couple of days ago. She will be 6 months old tomorrow. We fed her Gerber banana baby food. I would love to make her homemade baby food instead. We fed her sweet potatoes today. Thanks for the great giveaway.

  22. My LO is 2 months now, so we need to start thinking about solids..I want to make my own, don't know where to start…
we love sweet potatoes at our house, so I can't wait to get LO on them

  23. we will be starting solids with my daughter in the next couple months. she is 4 months already!! (well, next week she will be)

i cant remember what my son started with, but we started at 4 months with him. i think probably gacky cereal or something. didnt last long, he didnt like it. ill be making all my baby food for this girlie and my son got homemade food most of the time, too!

  24. Ooh, I just went to a pediatrician appointment yesterday and they said that I could start my baby (currently 4 months old) on rice cereal now! I'm so excited about it!
