It was around 6:30 tonight that we decided it would be a good idea to drive to the beach. Our house is hot and icky and way uncomfortable. The beach was perfect weather- a little chilly and windy! The fresh, cold air felt so good. We let Lucas stay up past his bedtime.
I got a great workout carrying my 40 pound babe and all our luggage up and down the beach.
Hottest man alive.
Lucas loved it. He did really well for the most part… until he dropped his binky on the ground. In the sand. I don’t think the 5 second rule applies to the sand. Thank goodness God invented fingers- because he just had to suck on something to fall asleep. Except he didn’t fall asleep. We were there past 10pm and he did.not.sleep. I swear, my child does not sleep.
I love my family.
I want to leave you with a song that I just love. It makes my heart melt every time I hear it.
Darius Rucker- “It Won’t Be Like This For Long.”

I can't listen to that song without crying!!! He's such a cute baby
Don't you just love spur of the moment outings with the fam? It is harder now that we have two kiddos, but man, those crazy outings (especially at night) are some of our favorite memories! Sometimes you just need to go somewhere! I just wish we were near the beach like you guys!
What a cutie pie! Are you serious about him being 40 lbs!?!? WOW! My 3 year old daughter isn't even 40 lbs yet! I've never heard this song before (hardly ever listen to the radio). I LOVE IT! Tearing up for sure! Thanks for sharing! =)
When did Hootie go country??? That song had me in tears… my kids are growing so fast and my husband is missing a year of it all, (bawl bawl bawl). But thanks for posting it.
Ok.. I couldn't watch the video because I was sure it was going to make me cry just from reading the title. I must say.. I wish we lived close enough to the beach to just take a day trip! How fun!
I love that song. We have a 3 year old girl, and there are times when we get frustrated with her because she hits her little brother or she throws a temper tantrum, but we know she's our little girl, and we love her so much. This song really makes you think how these fun and exhausting times will change as she gets older to more fun and exhausting times, but all in all, she'll always be our little girl. It won't be like this for long!
That is a good song. I try to remember that she will only be this age once. She will only get to do this or that for the first time once. Eventually she will learn to talk better and won't say I wub moo instead of I love you!

What cute pics! I SO wish we lived close enough to a beach that we could make a spur-of-the-moment trip out of it!
How fun! You have such a sweet family!

It really helped me get through the-four-month-old-I-don't-want-to-sleep phase.
I thought you guys didn't use pacifiers?!
So sweet. It looks like y'all had a great time!
Every time I hear that song I bawl like a baby. It was worse when Violet was a tiny baby, but it still gets me every time.

No no no – he is *only* 16 pounds. 🙂 I was joking. That would be one HUGE kid!
