What Type of Blogs do You Read?

I’m watching The Bachelorette right now.

Oh my word. Please get rid of Kacey immediately. And please keep the adorable Frank. And please keep the hunky Roberto. But please don’t tell me you’re going to marry a man after you met him for 48.6 seconds. I just want you to get rid of Kacey. He is weird and a tattoo?? Not a good idea. Ever. Also, please cut your hair.
I want to guard and protect your heart.
The end.
As I watch this show – in between commercials- I read blogs. I can’t believe the amount of blogs there are on the internet. I remember when blogs were “invented” or when they started to become “a big thing” a few years ago… and now it’s just crazy how many people have blogs.Β
This got me thinking… what type of blogs do you read? Do you read blogs for giveaways? Do you read blogs that are updated daily with pictures of their day to day activities? Do you read blogs that are interesting or informative?
Totally just curious.
I find myself attracted to blogs that are real. Blogs with well written paragraphs are great too, I learn a lot from those, but I find that blogs written by real moms talking about their real life is what I’m most drawn to. It’s almost refreshing, I guess, to read blogs that aren’t written perfectly. Blogs that have errors in the words, but that have truth and honesty coming out of it. It reminds me to be more real too, and I think that’s something that I want to do more of on my own blog. Just be real. No matter what.
What blogs do you read? And why? And when? I have several blogs that I read every day. Other blogs I check occasionally. Almost all the blogs I read I type into my internet address bar. I just have all the sites memorized- ha! I used to use Google Reader but I love reading them on the actual blogs page I guess. Anyways- those are just my thoughts. I’d love to hear what type of blogs you’re reading these days!
Oh good. Chris showed up to tell us it’s a final rose. Thank goodness! Chris, you are so sweet.
OH MY HEAVENS. She gave a rose to Kasey.
I bet they paid her.
Until next week…
(Or tomorrow when I blog, but you get me.)

  1. Yeah, she was a moron for giving the rose to Kacey..but she didn't know about the tattoo! πŸ™‚

I like blogs with lots of pictures and that are “real”

  2. I agree with you about wanting to real blogs that aren't fake or overly braggy. The last thing I want to do is read a really self-involved blog. I try hard to keep mine relevant to the small number of readers I have, but also honest and fun. I read a lot of couponing blogs too, but that's only because I'm obsessed!

  3. I read your blog… πŸ™‚ Mostly I like blogs that have some relevance to my life- being a parent, a wife, a student, etc… I also like blogs that are a little witty.

Lately I've been reading a lot of blogs by gals that are super-crafty. I love seeing all the fancy things they can do with old tee shirts and other things they've got lying around their homes. It makes me wish I was crafty.

  4. I LOVE blogs that are real and honest and I really only read fellow mummy blogs. Mainly cos thats all I have time for at the moment.
I find other mums journey's refreshing.
    Great blog

  5. I like your blog a lot πŸ™‚

It's one of the only I read besides my personal friends that I know from Nebraska, I stopped reading MckMama's and only read yours pretty much now. Yours is the best πŸ™‚

    Kasey IS a creeper. Gross.
I like Roberto, he's the best. Who is that guy that never speaks and how is he still there?

Hope you are having a good summer!

  6. Yes…Kasey is a creeper. I just had to dedicate an entire blog to it…I am just so overwhelmed.

As for blogs…I love humor blogs. Ones that talk about every day Mom/family/girlfriend occasions because we know we can all relate. The ones that share their funny stories and we can read it and say, “damn, I'm not the only one!”. I also love the TV gossip. Let's be honest, we all love to talk about the Bach and other shows we are dedicating our hour of kids-have-gone-to-bed-time, so we might as well jib jab about it with others.

Just found your blog from mama kat's….and so far…Love it! Look forward to more.

  7. I read lots of blogs – those of family, friends, and acquaintances which are just about life etc., but then I also read a whole bunch of blogs about cloth diapers/giveaways. Because I'm addicted. πŸ˜›

  8. I read blogs that are “real” as well. I don't want a blog that is ONLY about giveaways, or ONLY about their children, or ONLY about their jobs.

I like to read blogs that cover EVERYTHING. I read blogs that I feel I “know” the person. They talk about their relationship, their children, their job, their life…

I can't stand blogs that are just one dimensional!

  9. I like real blogs as well. I guess I like to read things I relate to or read about people I can be shaking my head 'yes' to while I am hearing about their day.

I like people that are smart and witty and funny as well but I follow a wide variety of people with different outlooks and personalities.

    I am a blog reading eclectic I guess πŸ˜‰

  10. Since you mention The Bachelorette and blogs in the same post, have you ever read Realitysteve.com?
He is a blogger and he blogs about reality tv. Especially the Bachelorette. Don't read it if you don't want to read any spoilers. I've been reading him for a while and he is always spot on!!!
However, I like to read “real” blogs as well. I'm not into artsy craftsy things because I'm not crafty, I like to read real, everyday stuff from everyday mommies and friends.

  11. My google reader is SO FULL, it's crazy! I always try to get rid of some, but I always end up with a zillion anyway.

I don't like giveaway blogs (though i love when blogs occasionally have giveaways) and I love some that are “themed” (Redoing the house, typography, travel, fashion) but my favorites are ones where they share their life. Where I know the names of their children or BFFs and have seen pictures. Where they are more than a magazine in blog format, over de-personalized just to be monitized. I love honesty and flaws and not being over-edited.

This is why all my blogrolls on MY blog are way too long! I just don't know how to cut them down when they are already just a fraction of what I read!

  12. i love blogs that are real. family stuff… good and bad. pictures, stories, the OCCASSIONAL giveaway, but memes (but not too cheesy) etc.

  13. I love ALL giveaway blogs. I love blogs that are “real” I love home schooling blogs. I love parenting blogs. I love when a mother writes about her daily life and what her and her children did that day. I love reading about new (cheap) recipes on blogs.

Most of all I LOVE crafting blogs.

I guess I like all blogs except gossip ones!!

  14. I have been watching the show too. Kacey was so far out there this episode. The scary part is that he isin't feeding her any lines that is how he is. If he says he will guard and protect her heart one more time, I might need to hunt him down and slap him and tell him to snap out of it.

Blogs I read tend to have photos and are visually appealing. They all have something in common with me or post about stuff I am interested in and interested in learning more about.

  15. I like funny, semi-sarcastic, “keep it real” type blogs written by moms. I don't like the overly commercial mommy blogs, because I don't trust the advice as much as I trust the advice from moms just blogging to blog.

And OMG, I'm going to barf all over my couch the next time one of the Bachelorette boys sings spontaneously.

  16. Kacey is just plain weird. Please stop singing Kacey…you can't sing!

I like blogs that are real also. I try to keep my blog pretty real and not sugar coat everything. Some days I feel like I'm failing so I write about that. Others things are great so I write about that. I love blogs that keep life real and I also love funny blogs. There are some really funny bloggers out there.

  17. I used to enjoy crafting & cooking blogs a lot. Lately I only like blogs about potty training & w a new baby or a expecting woman. I am 27 wks looking forward to my 4th child & 2nd boy! I do not the have the urge to nest this time or anything related to it, I haven't even blogged myself in months. I would rather read blogs or watch the bachelorette. The extent of that dudes creepiness is sad. I loved when he sang, I was cracking up.

  18. Agreed on the Kacey part……lol……..I wonder if they decided to make sure to find one crazy person to throw in the mix now…..????……

I like blogs that are real too…..tend to be around the mommy blogs most of all, I guess…..
I definitely enjoy meeting new people and getting to 'know' other mommies…..

  19. Well now I'll start reading your blog… thanks for commenting on mine so I could find you! πŸ™‚

I definitely like reading blogs that are real. I don't like blogs that are just about giveaways and such. I have a list of my favorite blogs on the side of mine!

Oh, and I LOVE the Bachelorette! Roberto is my absolute fav… ay poppie πŸ˜‰ Kasey and Justin need t go asap!
