Pregnant Mechanic

I wish I could paint this picture for you. You’ll just have to imagine.

I’m 6 months pregnant. I’m wearing a pink skirt and a black shirt. I call my husband because his truck won’t start. He tires to explain to me what I need to do over the phone. Here I am, lifting the hood and trying to get it to stay up. He instructs me to “pull on the wire.” And he is serious. Pull on a wire? You want me to pull on a wire? Which wire? He gives me directions, I figure it out, and the car starts.
It’s funny because I was doing it with a big stomach, and things are funnier when you’re pregnant and trying to lean over a truck with your stomach in the way. Trust me, it’s funny.ย
Just laugh with me.

Here is a really attractive picture I took of myself the other day.ย
My boobs and stomach are growing rapidly and they think they’re in charge of my body. Do you know what I mean? If you’ve been pregnant, you know what I mean. Unless you’re Heidi Klum, and if you are, than please don’t talk to me. Its as if your boobs and stomach become one. There isn’t much separation going on. You look down and it’s just all one glob.

I really need to go shopping because right now I’ve got about 5 shirts that fit me. I’m on a rotation here, and while I’m perfectly fine with it, I think there might be something in the employee handbook at work that addresses how often you’re allowed to wear the same clothes.ย

I have a lot of thoughts about pregnancy. I want to write about working out during pregnancy, and I will soon. Us mamas need to come together and encourage one another to get some exercise. It is so important and I have been totally lacking in the area.
We need to talk about this.
I watched the movie, The Business of Being Born and I have a lot of thoughts on it. I will write a separate post on it soon, and share some of my thoughts with you.

At what point in a pregnancy do you start waddling? I can’t remember, but I’m sure I will soon enough.

  1. I can imagine.. When I was about 7 months preggo with my daughter it had froze one morning and I was running late so I didn't have time to wait for the car to defrost itself, there I was trying to position my body so that I could reach the scraper to the windshield. *shakes head* Not one of my finer moments!

I think you look adorable! Boob-belly and all ๐Ÿ˜‰

  2. I know exactly what you mean about the boob-belly blob. I have been pregnant and/or breastfeeding for the last 3 1/2 years and am expecting my 3rd child in December. So… by the time I'm done (this is the last!) it will have been over 5 years… I am scared to find out what my body will look like when this is all said and done. LOL

Way to go getting the car started with a 6-month-belly! I probably would have ended up frustrated and crying. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Not sure when the waddle begins. The other day when I was out, I made such a concious effort not to waddle that when I got home, I was sore all over. So not worth it!

  4. Love the Business of Being Born, well for the most part. Looking forward to your post on it.

I started waddling around 8months. I thought it was really funny and I loved waddling.

  5. Loved “The Business” – inspired me to use The Bradley method and have our little one naturally – my other favorite documentary – Food, Inc! With your nutrition education – I think you would enjoy it! It is kinda scary though – food! :o) You look great too, healthy and happy – we are not ready for #2 quite yet, I look forward to reading about yours! Our little one is 15 months and just starting to express her independance – I guess just in time for the 4th – BUT do you have any books that you are loving right now to help with how to respond. I currently have Grace Based Parenting, Love and Logic, and Easy to Love Difficult to Discipline. Naomi is not a difficult kiddo, but you know the 15 month stages of reaction when something does not go how they want or planned…. I mean somehow I do it with my first grade class, but it is so hard with your own! Thank you!

  6. Kaitlin-
I'm actually not reading any parenting books right now to I should though!! ๐Ÿ™‚

I bought Free Range Parenting today and am going to start reading that tonight. I saw Love and Logic and almost bought it…

Lucas is starting the throwing a fit stage too if he doesn't get his way. I don't know how to handle it sometimes or if I'm doing the “right” thing. Sometimes I ignore it, other times I explain to him WHY he doesn't get something or whatever.

Maybe my next ask the moms question will be about parenting books! ๐Ÿ™‚ Yes, that's a good idea, I need recommendations too!

  7. I rotated the same 3 pair of dress pants at work, with about 8 shirts. I dared them to say a word, and even broke our dress code to wear jeans near the end. I looked it at, like I was doing them a favor by even being there instead of starting my leave (I worked until I went into labor). I say be as comfy as you can be ๐Ÿ™‚
