Body After Baby: December 1st-December 7th

Body After Baby 8 Week Challenge December 2010/January 2011 is here!!!!

This challenge is about coming together as woman and moms to lose that extra “baby” weight and improve our overall health. I encourage you to take your “before” picture. I’m not going to be asking for these, but you’re of course welcome to put them on your own blog. I may ask for some before/after pictures at the end for those who wish to share.

(Have you seen the before and after pictures from our last 8 week challenge? Check them out here! It’s amazing what you can do in just two months- these mamas look awesome!!)

Several of you have asked me how you can participate without having a blog. (And I’m sorry if I haven’t wrote back to your email! I am trying!) I wish I had a super clever idea, but I don’t. My only suggestion is to participate by checking in and commenting with the Body After Baby post. Or, you could start your own blog too! 🙂 But I think if you participate by leaving comments that will help. I will certainly respond to you in the comments section if I can’t visit you on your blog.

I want to briefly share my goals with you. Please note that these are my goals and it is customized for me. Please don’t feel like you should or need to do what I do. I am not a doctor, I am just a mama sharing my experience and plan. What I do may be too much or not enough for you, so plan according to you! Actually, keep this in mind when you read my goals and everyone else’s too! Please don’t compare yourself to others. Do what works for you, your body, your fitness background and your schedule.

{I’m going to go ahead and add my disclaimer here. Again. 😉 I am not a doctor. I am not a registered dietitian. I have a bachelors degree in health and I have worked in gyms since freshman year in college, so while I have experience and general knowledge, I am not an expert. I will be sharing my tips along the way and offering some advice, but I am not an expert.  Over ‘n out.}

My weight loss goal for December is to lose 5 pounds.  My plan is to hit the gym four days a week- five if all the stars line up perfectly. (Not likely.) I will log my workouts and everything I eat. I will drink 3-4 Liters of water a do. I probably already do that anyways, I am so thirsty because of breastfeeding! I really want to have more energy and feel better, and I know that will happen with workouts and healthy eating.

I want to elaborate on my plan more, but honestly it’s 9:45 and I need to go to bed. I just got my cranky baby to sleep… he’s on my chest now, I think I’ll just stay here so I don’t risk the chance of waking him. I hope to talk about what I’m doing more specifically later. But, basically I’ll be doing cardio and weights at the gym, and I want to do my ab workouts at home- maybe twice a week.

If you want to participate in the Body After Baby challenge, consider yourself in! If you are participating, please write about it on your own blog and leave that link here. This week you should focus on what your goals are and what your plan is to get there. It would also be great if you would simply introduce yourself (you can do that in the comments of this post too) and talk a little bit about where you’re coming from.

Starting next week I will have prizes with the link ups!

Please visit each other. Encourage one another and offer your advice. Have a fantastic week!

  1. Well, I think I did the link thing right. I will post my goals and such later today as I am just on here for a quick minute before waking the children for school. 🙂 Cant wait to get on this!

  2. OK, I'm in. I'm at the exact same place weight-wise as I was when BAB started last time! Yeesh!

I'm taking a different approach this time, though. My dad has had cancer twice. My mom is fighting it right now. I want to treat my body better so I can stay healthy and live a long, happy life with my hubby and two boys. The weight loss and fitness and fitting clothes better, well, those will come with time, as I clean up my act in the kitchen!

  3. I'm in! I am so excited! I have 10lbs total that I want to loose, so for the month of Dec, I am making it 5lbs. I will post a blog post later this morning with my goals and plan.

I am a missionary wife and mommy of 3 kids (BoyD – 5yrs, GirlM – 3yrs, and BabyK – 1 in Jan) I live in Guatemala and struggle with working out because of my schedule and location.

    Looking forward to it!

  4. Sarah, you're supposed to link just to your BAB posts, not the whole blog. I went lookin' and didn't find one! 🙂 Can't wait to read about your goals and be there to support you!

  5. I started with increased exercise and healthy eating last week. But results were disappointing so apparently I need to make a few other changes. Sad day though.

  6. Andrea, I know how you feel – I tried Atkins at the beginning of November and was excercising every other day and I only lost a few pounds. But my husband lost about 12 pounds, and he wasnt even exercising! Its hard not to get discouraged, and then go pig out to make yourself feel better (or at least thats what I do!)

  7. I will delete your link if it goes to your main blog (like mamanotes.com) instead of your actual body after baby post. sorry! 😦 Please re-enter it with the post url! THis just makes it easier for people to find the post when they visit your blog. Thanks for understanding! 🙂

  8. SO EXCITED! This is something I have been hoping for to come about again soon. I will finish this this time, just like my run this summer. 🙂

Thanks so much for running this again.

  9. Hi Everyone

I have done bab before but i just had a new baby 4 weeks ago so its time to start again.

@signingcharity to protect your supply while dieting you should eat if your hungry and make good food choices, also drink plenty of water. And as long as you don't overdo it it shouldn't effect your supply at all.

  10. Hello All – I think I did this right. I just found this blog a few weeks ago and am bery interested in this concept. I am days away from havinf baby #5 and could really use the encouragement to eat better and exercise. Thanks for hosting this!
