This Christmas is so special and different for my family. It is the first year- ever– that it has been “just” my husband and our boys with us. No grandparents house to visit, no relatives, siblings or in-laws here. Because of this, it almost doesn’t feel like Christmas. It has had it’s sad moments for sure. We’re used to Christmas being filled with tons of family, presents and food. We share Christmas between dinners at my family’s and my husband’s. However, this year we decided to stay home and you know what… I’m so glad we did.
Merry Christmas Friends!
We miss our family and of course, we wish we could all be together. But I think there is something very special about being in your own home for Christmas. Plus, traveling around Christmas is not only expensive but busy and hectic! It is calm and peaceful here. Lucas’ new train set is set up downstairs for him to see in the morning. Our bed was filled tonight with a short clip of Toy Story and reading The Night Before Christmas. There is mountains of snow outside our window. I like being home.
This Christmas is so fun because Lucas is older and knows how to rip open presents! I can’t believe that tonight I set up his new train track. I feel so old- and so blessed. It’s funny to think that years ago my parents were doing this for me! I remember getting American Girl dolls. Still have ’em actually.
Tomorrow Lucas and I are going to bake Jesus a birthday cake. Because, after all, Christmas is about celebrating the birth of Jesus! He’s obviously still a little young, but I think having a birthday cake is a good idea as a way for him (and all young kids) to understand what Christmas is about. Happy Birthday Jesus!
{And any good reason to eat chocolate cake is fine by me.}
Anyways, I really had no intention to blog on Christmas Eve but all I really wanted to say was…..from my family to yours, Merry Christmas. I hope it is MAGICAL!!!
Merry Christmas to you!! I hope it was a wonderful day for you!
(I still have my American Girl dolls from when I was little too 😉
Our girls are starting the American Girl Christmas' LOL. To make it even more funny. We are Canadian, Oh well, we make a trip to the closest American girl store (9 hours away) every summer and then stock up gifts for Christmas.
Glad you enjoyed your time with your beautiful little family!
