And Then He Starts a Project

Sometimes, with the most random objects and at a totally unexpected time, Lucas will start a project.

I love when he starts a project. I don’t care about the mess, I can clean that up later.

I just love watching him work on something with so much concentration. I imagine his imagination soaring as he sorts through his thoughts and actions into free play.  I also love the silence that comes from project time. 🙂

This may just look like a mess of baby wipes spread across the floor, but there was so much more going on. Each piece he took out was being laid flat on the floor. He got frustrated when, while pulling at the corners, the wipe wouldn’t lay flat. I imagine there was a pattern he was orchestrating on the floor as well. I don’t ask many questions, I just sit and watch.

Sometimes when it becomes quiet upstairs I will sneak up on him to find him working on something in the playroom. I am very careful not to bother his thoughts or his independent play when this is going on.

Rearranging the furniture while laying the wipes on the swing? I have no idea. But I loved relaxing on the couch watching him while I sipped red wine and watched The Bachelor.

{Just kidding. I don’t drink wine and I was actually nursing the baby. But I do love The Bachelor!}

  1. He looks so determined! BTW, I've had wipes pulled out like that so many times. If you put them in a ziploc bag they will stay damp OR I've also learned after they dry out they make very good dust rags!

  2. He is so cute! It seems that kiddos always stay busy & I love it when you share about Lucas. I've been taking more time to check in on them or listen to my kiddos playing together. It brings a warm feeling to my heart.
