Stop Thinking About What You’re Going to do & Just DO

I did not want to go for a run this morning. I checked the temperature when I woke up and it was 12 degrees.  That sounded too cold for me. So, I thought about my other options. I spent some time thinking…. I could go to the gym and run on the treadmill, but I HATE running on the treadmill and knew that I would only be able to last a few short minutes. I then thought about going and lifting weights instead, but I did really want to go for a run….

Someone somewhere once said something like “stop thinking about what you’re going to do and just do something.” Sometimes we spend so much time thinking about when/why/how/where/what we’re going to do that we end up not doing anything at all. If we would just stop thinking about all the logistics and get out there and do it- we would get a lot more accomplished. 
10:30 hit and the temperature had only rose one degree. At this point I realized it’s either do or die.  It was a clear blue day and the sun was shining. I had to work the rest of the afternoon and I knew if I didn’t go for a run I would totally regret it. This is also my only day to go for a run in the morning/day light because of, you know, the whole husband working thing. 🙂 
So I did it! 
My run started out very cold. My face was freezing so I turned around right away to get a gator. Mmmm toasty fleece gator. After that I warmed up fairly quickly and was sweating by the end of it. I should have taken the gator off half way through the run, but oh well. 
It was a great 30 minute run, and although I feel totally out of shape, it’s already becoming easier and I’m already getting better at it. A beautiful, cold snowy start to my morning, well worth it.

  1. I did go running today, it felt great!! Although I sort of got lost, took a trail I thought was going somewhere but then it didn't luckily I found another trail that took me out to the right path. I LOVE RUNNING!! plus I have a half marathon in April. Beautiful pictures!

  2. Wow, you are tough. It has been hovering around zero here, and I just cant make myself do it. I have been going to the Rec Center instead, they have an indoor track. But it takes 10 laps to equal a mile. I have not ran in years, I am in such bad shape. Thanks for the inspiration!
