It was another beautiful day. It makes me so excited for summer!
I ran/walked about 4 miles this morning with my running partner, Ashley. We did great the first 2.5 miles and then took a little walking break. The hills were tough! I almost needed sunglasses, and even though I put sunscreen on before I left the house, I think my face got a little red. Not that I’m complaining too much- I think I could do with a little color. 🙂
I am feeling pretty down on myself about my running pace. I usually run anywhere from a 9:30-11:00min/mile pace. To some that might be fast, to some its’s slow. I try not to compare my running time to others, but sometimes when I see people running 8 min miles I am totally jealous of them.
My goal isn’t to be a fast runner. I have no desire to run 7 minute miles, but I would like to be at about a 9min pace. However, I need to focus on the total milage right now, as I train for the big 13.1 miles I’ll be doing in a couple months! (EEKK!)
I was talking to a co worker the other day about running and I told him my pace was around a 10min/mile. His reply? You need to pick it up girl. Yeah, really encouraging. It has been nagging at me for a while now and his voice makes me feel so slow and it frustrates me. I am JUST getting back into running. I know I need to give myself time to get faster and not let my pace get to me.
So I have to push his voice aside and not let him get to me!! I have to tell myself- at least I’m running!
