Joshua and I had a fun night last night. And when I say fun, I mean AWESOME with every ounce of sarcasm in my body. He was up; wide awake from about 3am- 5:30am. I have no idea what was going on, he was just hanging out! Thankfully he wasn’t crying or anything the entire time, so I was able to doze on and off as he laid next to me and talked or played- or did whatever he was doing.
He did start to get fussy and then around 5am I decided to take a hot bath with him. I didn’t know what else to do and I knew that would relax him. And I was right! He was asleep within minutes after we got out of the bath- we both were! Thank goodness. It was a frustrating and long night though, and I’m glad it’s over. Surprisingly, I’m not too tired, but it will probably catch up with me later. Instead of taking a nap while both boys are sleeping, I’m blogging. Smart move, I know. I just feel like if I lay down I’m going to fall fast asleep and then someone will wake me up and I’ll be all groggy and grumpy. Plus, I want to finish my P90X workout from this morning. BOYAH!
So, this morning I took the kiddos to Costco. Otherwise known as the store that’s making me broke. Seriously, they need to stop carrying so much food. I can’t handle this. We had no melt downs and both boys did fabulous so it was a good experience.
Quite a few people said hello to us and made comments like “oh you have your hands full” and “oh look how cute he is!” I mean this in the nicest way possible, but one couple really freaked me out. The lady got WAY too close to me and Joshua (he was in the Ergo thank goodness!) and kept asking if he was a boy or girl, and I was just like, back off lady.
Then, I kid you not, as we were walking up to the check out lanes this guy and I spotted an almost empty lane at the same time. The guy asked if I wanted to race, so I said okay. I obviously beat him.
I promise I had no intentions of buying those darn Goldfish crackers, but I accidentally (I swear, it was an accident) walked by them and even though I tried to be sneaky and move in the other direction, Lucas spotted them… and that was the end of that.
Okay, fine. You’re happy. I’m happy. Fair game.
The only things on my list were protein powder, deli meet and eggs, but you all know what happens when you go to Costco. You accidentally spend another $100 and use your receipt to wipe your tears on the way out.
Here’s what we got:
:: Protein Powder- for smoothie add in’s
:: Rotisserie Chicken. Um, yes please. This is what Lucas and I had for lunch. Oh, plus some apples and strawberries, don’t worry, I don’t feed my toddler salty chicken that often. But for $5, I’d say this lunch was pretty awesome. If this chicken is not organic or comes from a bad farm or looks gross- do not tell me about it.
:: Deli Meet
:: Spinach- also for smoothies so we can become fast and furious
:: Alaskan Salmon Burger- we have never got these before but I had a sample of one and they were pretty good. If I remember correctly there are 160 calories and 20 grams of protein for one “burger” so I think that’s pretty good. I have to ask my husband to help me fit these in the freezer. He’s getting kind of annoyed about all the breast milk that’s in there- it’s taking up a lot of room. I’ve got to do something about that.
I feel very happy about the amount of food that is in my house right now.
Option a) lay down and rest/sleep until child #1 (or 2? I never know) wakes me up.
Option b) lay down and watch Biggest Loser
Option c) finish my P90X workout (but I only have about 20 minutes left, so I could do it later. Plus Lucas told me he’s trying to improve his push up form and he wants me to be his coach.)
Option d) go clean the kitchen
Option e) keep my bum right here and read blogs until a child wakes me up
The life of a mother is always full of hard decisions. Especially during nap time. You only get one a day so you have to use it right!
