Yesterday morning, the kids and I met up with a hiking group here in Anchorage called Taiga Trekkers. (If you’re in the area, you should totally join us!) It’s a great group of active parents (mostly moms, but dads join us too when they can.) that meet once a week for a hike/walk outdoors with our kids. I haven’t been able to go to many since Joshua has been born because of the snow/stroller situation. Lucas hated the stroller for a long time and it’s hard to push it on lots of snow, and I had Joshua in the front pack…. anyways, today we went!
It went pretty good, for the most part. I had snacks packed for Lucas. Clean diapers on. A camera, pacifier, water, hat and gloves in the stroller, Lucas in his seat, Joshua in his carrier. Aren’t you so proud of me? I even brought extra diapers so I could handle any poop explosions that might be thrown my way. We’re golden.
Well, unfortunately some parts of the trail still had bits of snow and ice on them. I was wearing non studded shoes and was slipping everywhere plus Joshua man was not happy. I’m not sure what his deal was, but he was a grumpy pants, so I turned around and walked back as fast as possible to the car.
That was probably the best idea ever, because they were so happy hanging out in the trunk!
Works for me!
The fresh, chilly air must have been a good thing, because both kids took a three hour nap at the same time! I’m excited for more of these great walks with a group of people!
Today is payday in our household (wahoo!!) so a major grocery shopping trip to both Fred Meyer and Costco is happening. Is it strange that I’m actually terribly excited to go grocery shopping? I must be an adult. We’re out of so many things and quite frankly, I’m hungry! I think I might pick up a few new things that I’ve had my eye on, too. I’ll be back later with a shopping report! 🙂
