Typical Day Around Here

Okay, first of all, I am really bad at waking up early. You can ask my husband. I might need to re- think this whole getting up at 6am thing. Ha. I don’t mean to make more excuses for myself, but, I sleep with Joshua (I know, I know.. he’ll be getting his own bed soon enough) and if I wake up at 6am there’s a good chance he will too. And I don’t want a grumpy baby….
I should clarify. I don’t want a grumpier baby who does.not.sleep.ever.during.the.day.
This is me losing my mind.
(Okay, at this precise moment is he taking a nap. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for this one, baby!)
Really Joshua is teething. Poor guy. I can see the tooth breaking through on his bottom gum. I’ve spent my life savings on one of those ridiculous Sophie the giraffe toys that everyone raves about, so hopefully he likes that.
We went to a new bounce house this week. There were (literally) four (or five?) bounce places in Anchorage. I guess they are really popular. Well, a couple of them have gone out of  business, so now I think there’s just three. I think they’re more for older kids, but they’re fun every now n’ then.
Here’s what Lucas looks like when he goes down a really fast slide at the bounce place:

He was loving that thing.
We went and visited daddy at school. We brought him Subway and a cookie and Lucas ate the cookie.
Big surprise there.
The kids looooooove Lucas. It’s so cute.
Today is Earth Day! I am not going to write a post on Earth Day. To celebrate, we are going to the grocery store to get fruit, milk and shot blocks (fuel for my 8 miler tomorrow) and hopefully it rains so we can go outside and jump in some puddles. Mother of the year award, yes please.

  1. Lucas looks so happy sliding down that thing! I hope your little man stops teething soon- that has to be an awful experience for you. 😦 Yay for the long run tomorrow! I'm thinking about doing some yoga today to loosen things up for it.

  2. With the getting up early thing, I have tried and tried and tried with no luck. It would be the best time of day with 2 kids but I have decided as long as the baby is waking up multiple times a night it is just not going to happen. Caleb just started sleeping through the night (8 months old) and since he has been doing so mornings are like 100% easier. It is amazing how good you feel after getting a SOLID 7-8 hours of sleep. There is no need to be hard on yourself about not wanting or able to wake up early in the morning when you are not getting a solid 6-8 hours of sleep at night.

  3. Y'know… I know you gave up Diet Coke, but do you drink any other caffeine? I don't know if the shot blocks have caffeine, or if it would matter since I'm guessing that you drink them late in the day since you run at night. If you're still breastfeeding, maybe Joshua is sensitive to caffeine? I couldn't have ANY. AT. ALL. when I was nursing Pixie or she would be awake and cranky all darn day.
Of course, even without the coffee, she still slept like it sounds J does… she had to be in my arms to sleep and it was usually only for half an hour at a time. 😦

  4. Nope, I don’t have any caffeine at all. I don’t drink soda or coffee (even when I had Diet Coke I got the caffeine free kind anyways) and I don’t have any chocolate right now either. Also the shot blocks don’t have any caffeine.. they are little gummy chews, just carbohydrates and sugar mostly 🙂 I’ve only had those once and tomorrow I’m having them in the morning for my morning run, but anyways… no caffeine here, I guess I just have a not very good sleeping baby!!! 🙂

However, I do have to say this morning he took a GREAT nap from 9-11 am which was amazing. He really needed that! I put one of my shirts on his chest over his blanket, so maybe that helped. Who knows!

  5. What a cute picture of daddy and son! Oh, and 6, Pa-leeez – NO THANK YOU! I am not a morning person either! Luckily, so far, neither are my children! LOL
