Hiking/climbing up flattop mountain wasn’t exactly what I would consider a “reward” for running a half marathon yesterday. Can you say massage, pedicure, relaxation, etc? However, my dad and I really wanted to hike it together before he left, so this was our last chance to do it.
This was my first time hiking this mountain.
It was AWESOME. I loved it. I want to do it every week.
I climbed up that. With my feet and hands.
And that.
Yep.
It was so so fun. A little hard, but such a fun challenge.
I made it to the top!
{Remind me to save that shirt for game days only.:) I really wasn’t trying to represent OSU at the top of a mountain so brightly. haha}
The view above the clouds.
Too bad it wasn’t clear so we could see the city, but the clouds were cool too!
It’s about 3 miles round trip, and took us two hours to hike it up and down. My legs actually aren’t too sore! However, the blister that I got during the run is now pretty big. That was the only thing that was bugging me during our climb. I think it was good to get my legs moving though, and it felt great to stretch afterwards .
Then we had to climb down! That was actually harder than going up. You sort of had to sit down during parts and climb backwards with your hands, if that makes any sense.
It was a little creepy walking back because, like I said, it was super foggy so you really couldn’t see much. When you climb down the mountain there isn’t a clear trail — you just make your own trail and climb wherever you think it looks best — so I was freaked out that we were going to get lost on the mountain.
I seriously want to climb this mountain every week! What a great workout and challenge!
Who wants to do it with me?! 🙂
Wow, that's looks like a super cool climb!! Super cool experience.
That is amazing, I hope you get to do it again someday.
Really beautiful. I haven't tried hiking yet. Everyone out here (L.A.) can't get enough though. I think I'll have to give it a shot and see what I'm missing. Your pictures make me wanna try it!
All that fog and not sunnyness makes this excursion look a lil' too scurry for me. I love hiking, but I also like staying safe. You are an adventurer!
That looks so cool! If I hadn't run the full marathon over the weekend I think we would've done this.
