A Great Day for a Walk

This morning, Joshua woke up early, around 6:30. He didn’t go back to sleep – after a couple short attempts- so I decided to get up with him.  I thought about going to the gym, but I wanted to let my husband sleep in, so instead Joshua and I went for a nice long walk! It had rained the night before and was a little bit chilly out. It felt great! Joshua has a little cold which is why he’s wearing a hat… I wanted him to get some fresh air and get better. Doesn’t he look happy!

We walked for a little over an hour, and Joshua feel asleep about half way through. I was proud of myself for getting up and going for a walk. I am not a morning person, so this was an accomplishment!

I’m not a huge fan of walking, but I find it is a great activity/exercise to do with the kids. We’ve walked a lot this summer! I’m very seriously looking into getting a double stroller of some sort. Joshua is fine on my back for now, but he is getting heavy!
  • Do you enjoy walking or do you think it’s boring?
  • Do you feel like it’s a workout?  I personally never count it as a workout, even though I guess it technically is exercise. Maybe if I could find some hills to walk up!

  1. I'm amazed your children sleep so late- mine are up between 6 and 6:30 every morning.

I love going for walks and when I only had 2 in the double stroller I was able to speed walk and count it as exercise (we have lots of hills and tails near us). Now however, my older boys like to walk on their own so I usually just have the baby in the ergo. I consider it living a 'healthy lifestyle' now- fresh air and moving around!

I highly recommend the bob duallie- love mine!!

  2. Make sure you do alot of research before buying a double stroller-I have one and it is so HARD to push! (It is a Safety 1st brand-I do not recommend!) I often end up sticking my kiddos in the single stroller together because my arms are begging me for a break. They love it!
I do speed walking while pushing the stroller in spurts as well as lunges and lifting the stroller up on its back wheels-You get creative when you are a busy Mom with limited time for exercise!

  3. I love walking. Your little one is adorable.

  4. We love walking, I have a great double jogging stroller and it's so awesome. If I were to do it all over again I would have tried to find a used BOB jogging stroller (double) and I would have not gotten rid of my single.

Anyway it is great getting out and working out your kids and yourself.

  5. Ha, we just went through the double stroller thing, too. Otis makes me SWEAT carrying him in the summer! And it was almost a hundred degrees here in WI today, so I laughed when I saw Joshua in a HAT!! (it's 9pm and still 90. blech.)

We got a Baby Jogger City Mini Double and it is awesome. The thing I looked for was one hand steering, which this does really well with a 3yr old in one side and a 7mo old in the other. They are pricey but I found mine on Albee baby, it was way cheaper there.

  6. I love walking!! I try to get out and do it every day whilecarrying my newborn. I think it's helping the weight fall off!
