First Day of School

My mom is here! We’ve already gone to Costco, been to Target twice, went to a CrossFit class, worked out at the gym, been to the park, went for a run at Kincaid park, and hiked Flattop. We’ve been busy!

Also, today is the first day of school! What a beautiful day for it, too.

The start of a new school year means early mornings and late evenings, some weekend hours too. It means packed lunches every day, lesson planning on the couch, field trips to fun places and so much more.

{He has just got off work when I took this picture of him – unexpectedly- so he was a little tired. I think he looks so handsome though and I’m so proud of him on his first day!!}

My husband is teaching 4th grade this year. It will be a new challenge in itself. On top of it only being his 2nd year of teaching, he hasn’t taught 4th grade before. Last year was 5th, and this year, because of the school numbers, it’s 4th. He has a class of 23 students and 15 students are girls. Isn’t that crazy!  I hope he likes teaching 4th grade.  I remember wanting to be a 4th grade teacher. I don’t know why, but there was something about that grade level that I loved. I hope it’s a great year for him!

Workout:

This morning, my mom and I went to the gym to take a Group Power class. Unfortunately, I could only get through 30 minutes of it. I went it the day care to check on the boys and Joshua was hysterically crying as the ladies were trying to put him in the swing. “We didn’t know if he was just tired,” was what they told me. I think they were just about to call me though. Poor guy.

My mom really liked the power class though!

We’ve been outside a bit this evening —

Anyone else start school today?

  1. We start kindergarten tomorrow! She sure is looking forward to it. Doesn't even want me to follow the school bus and said that she already remembers where her class is. Hopefully she will get there!

  2. Fourth grade was my favorite grade. It seemed like old enough to have real fun and really learn but not old enough to be troubled by all the tween/teen drama.

    Your kids are too cute! Is it cool having them so close in age? We wanted to but still TTC when our first is 2.
