Weekend: Breast Pump, Outside, Family Day

How you know you’re a mom #753: You find a plastic giraffe in the washing machine and you use the words breast pump in the title of your blog post.

We’ve had a good weekend. Here’s a recap for ya.

On Saturday, I worked until 2pm. (Had to be there at 6am– ugh, that is early!) It was a pretty busy day at work, and I trained a couple new folks, which thankfully helped the day go by faster. After work, I stopped by Core Pilates to buy a package. They have a special (or had) going on: 10 classes for $99. I think that’s a pretty good deal, at $10 a session – normally $25 – so I bought it. It’s good for any of their classes, so I’m super excited to try some new ones out this winter!

We played outside quite a bit after nap. Loving this nice weather we’re having!

Joshua turned 10 months old on Saturday. TEN MONTHS OLD. I can’t believe it! Seriously.

My husband and I watched Blue Valentine for our date night movie. Eh — it was okay.

I had to get a new breast pump. Not terribly exciting, and truthfully, sort of annoyed I had to buy it. I had one, but it broke. I have no idea how it broke, it just stopped working. I just ran out of milk from the freezer too, which is totally lame because we only have two months left (till he is 12 months)  of nursing. I missed the timing by 2 months! If I would have had about 20 more bags I would have been fine….

Oh well. I might be able to pump some extra milk anyways, so he can continue to have breast milk after the 12 month mark. Actually, I hope I’m able to pump milk at all! I haven’t pumped in so long – just nursing- so hopefully I’ll be able to get some. If not, we’re going to be in a big heap of trouble because I’m working quite a bit lately and he drinks a full bottle before bed.

{Right here, I was going to put a picture of a breast pump, but I think they’re sort of freaky looking.}

I got the cheapest option I could find. Since I’m not planning on using it too long, I didn’t want to splurge. Although, I guess I might need it if we have another baby — but another topic. I got the Medela one – single pump- and thanks to a coupon and gift card I had, it only cost me $29.99. So, okay, not a huge deal. I haven’t even opened yet. Hope it works well!

On Sunday we had Family Day which has officially been brought back into our lives thanks to my decision to stop working Sunday’s. Breakfast was egg omelet with spinach. Heaven. (I did not make it, husband did.)  We went to the zoo, Costco, park, dinner. You know, typical family stuff. Lucas was crazy tonight. Someone gave him sugar coated candy before bed or something, I swear.

I think this week will be a busy one – like, duh. nothing new – but I have a lot of fun things planned too. The boys and I both have appointments to go to, I want to try out a new bread type recipe thing with blueberries and zucchini (that combination sounds disgusting to me, but the recipe calls for it, so I listen.) I’m working a lot, and I have a couple learning activities I’m going to try with Lucas. Should be eventful!

I want to leave you with a comment that was left on my last post, regarding my fear of traveling. It was encouraging to me — I hope it is for you, too!

Attila & Tamara said, “Saturate yourself in the word.”

Saturate yourself in the word. I just love that, because it is so true and so  what I need to be doing right now, especially when I feel fear or anxiety — or any emotion!

She shared this bible verse:

” This is my command — be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

Amen Amen Amen.

  1. I love family Sundays! Ryan made me the exact yummy omelet yesterday too! 🙂 Also, I made some zucchini blueberry bread a few weeks ago and it was delicious! Oh and one more thing, we have season Beaver tickets so maybe I'll see you when you're here for a game! Have a nice week!

  2. I miss family time right now! We work such weird schedules and Brett works almost everyday, so we just don't get the chance. We do have a family week planned on Kodiak soon for fishing and relaxing, so I'm hoping that makes up for the lack of time together all winter. Glad you got the chance to enjoy each other!
