Do You Want Ketchup With That?

Lucas is tracing his hand.

Before that you’ll see some scribbles.

No. Not scribbles. Those are words, obviously.

What does it say?

It says, Lucas, please don’t get into the lollypop’s.

{Lollypop’s are in the cupboard above the fridge.}

My boys have been loving playing in the sink lately. Lucas has always loved to do the dishes, and now Joshua want’s to be up there with his big brother, of course!

This provides about 30 minutes of fun play. Only clean up is some water.

Lucas loves to cook.

He doesn’t get it from me.

I’m making pancakes. Don’t worry, I’ll clean up the mess.

mmm looks yummy, doesn’t it? This is some tomato soup, crackers, ranch dressing and ketchup.

Everything he creates and does in the kitchen is up to him and all his own ideas. I pretty much let him use whatever he wants.

Eventually I had to tell him we couldn’t do this anymore because the smells from all the food were starting to smell pretty gross.

I so wish I could give him a real – but not working – microwave, dishwasher and oven to play with. He would love that.

I found the can opener in the bathroom and the pizza cutter in my bedroom.
I was at work, my husband texted me and asked where the cheese grater was.
I have no idea. Really. Ask Lucas.

  1. You are the best mom! I don't think I would ever let me kids do that, with the mess that is left to clean! Unless you have them trained to do that too!

Anyways, maybe he will be the next Top Chef!

  2. He looks like he's having so much fun! Good for you letting him (and Joshua) experiment and play with real things and get creative in the kitchen. Even if it does create a mess 😉
My mom always let me play like this when I was growing up (washing dishes, 'cooking', etc) and it's such a fond memory. I still experiment now but it's less messy- I hope. I bet they think you're pretty awesome!
