Chocolate & Clean :: Cottage Cheese Pudding

I hate the texture of cottage cheese. Hate. I don’t like the taste of it either. I don’t even like the smell of it.

I remember when Lucas was little, he had cottage cheese for the first time. He loved it and got it all over himself. I was literally almost gagging I carried him straight upstairs to rinse off in the shower.

Anyways. Cottage cheese is a great source of protein. It’s a great “clean” food to eat, so I’m trying to… eat it!  I know many people can eat it “just as,” straight out of the box, but I have to hide it in something if I’m going to eat it. (Sort of like broccoli and lots of other things that I pretend I like.)

I love making this “cottage cheese pudding” which not only has a lot of protein in it, but it has the best part…. chocolate! It totally cures my chocolate craving and I have it almost every night.


1/2 cup cottage cheese
1/2 scoop whey protein powder
splash of almond milk
1-2 TBSP cocoa powder
{I don’t normally add egg whites unless I really want extra protein.}
Blend it together + put it in the freezer for 20-30 minutes. More if you want it frozen and more ice cream like. I personally like it just cold and creamy so 30 minutes is about right for me. 

This is a pretty small snack, but it’s usually the perfect size for the evening when I’m sitting on the couch and want a “treat.” If I want to make it more of a meal I’ll just add more cottage cheese and protein powder. 

You can do a lot of things with this. You can blend up a banana in there, or peanut butter. You can also substitute the almond milk for water, it taste good that way too.

 It is soooo yummy! 

It comes out creamy and chocolate-y.

This gives me faith that I can eat clean and still eat chocolate pudding. Yes!

  1. I never used to be able to eat cottage cheese either. The only kind I can do is hy-vee non fat loaded with pepper. I'm going to try it this way!

  3. All cottage cheese is not created equally!! I hate regular name brand or generic brand cottage cheese. We tried Friendship brand and it is magnificent! The curds are tiny and it is super creamy. It is NOTHING like the other stuff. If they carry it in your area, definitely try it!
