No Naps // Early Bedtime

Hubby is fishing today, hoping to catch lots of salmon!!

Kiddos and I had a great morning playing outside, per our usual routine, then home for lunch and rest/nap time. So, they both share a room. If I put them in their room at the same time during the day they will play and keep each other up, so I’ve been putting Lucas in first. I tell him he has to rest time, and hopefully he will fall asleep and then I can put Joshua in. I give Lucas 30 minutes or so of rest time, and if he isn’t asleep by then, I take him out and let him have quiet time somewhere else so Joshua can sleep in his crib.

I think it sounds a lot more difficult than it really is. Well, maybe. It is sort of an annoying process. They both just need to take 3 hour naps daily, at the same time. Seriously..

Lucas did really good today. He was quiet for 30 minutes, so I thought he was sleeping. I sneaked in to put Joshua to bed, and realized Lucas was still awake. (I think he would have fallen asleep though if I would have gave him another 20 minutes or so.) Anyways, so I told Lucas he had to have 15 more minutes of quiet time in his room. He and Joshua played/talked together, then I took Lucas out.

I have no idea why I am explaining all this, but whatev.

Lucas does puzzles in my room while I “work” on my computer. Joshua starts crying. Which he never does. He goes to bed very well, generally.

SO. I had this brilliant idea that I would let them both NOT take a nap, and instead, I would put them to bed SUPER EARLY. Well, this is a good idea….. except that by 5pm I was ready to put in a 2 hour movie for them. I should have let them watch a movie earlier, but I didn’t. Oh well.

I got them both in their room at 7pm, and who knows when they will fall asleep. But now, even though it’s super early and I have the whole night to myself, I’m exhausted!!

My plan didn’t work out too well. I decided I really really really do like nap time. Even if that means bed time happens an hour or two later.
