A Joyful Race

One of my favorite verses is Hebrews 12:1:

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us”

The “race” is our LIFE. Our days, our journey, our story. To me, living with God and going through my race (my life) is about fighting with perseverance and not giving up.  We are called to live the race (our life) faithfully and until the end.

In Hebrews 12:2 it says ” We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith.Because of the joy* awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.”

In James 1:2-4 it says, “Consider it pure JOY my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kids, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”

With any trials that we encounter doing our journey, we must remember to stay on the path of perseverance – staying consistent. A joy will come from this journey and the finishing of our trial, which will ultimately bring blessings.

The word JOY is so important. It reminds me to run this race with JOY in my heart and in my life. It reminds me that God gives JOY to those who wait on him and live their life with perseverance.

So all that to say, THE JOYFUL RACE is living our life and our journey with happiness and no matter what, turn to Jesus and never give up!
