Several months ago my moms group did a topic on fear. Even though it was targeted for our children and what we can say to them when they are scared of the invisible monster in their bedroom, being away from mommy for a couple days, or getting a shot at the doctor office, I couldn’t help but think of all the ways that I am held back in my life by fear. How many things I don’t do or say because I’m afraid.
Think about it! How many times in life do we avoid something because we’re scared?
The silly things like blogging and sharing my heart.. that’s scary!
Bigger things like flying on an airplane.
To something even scarier like raising my kids in this world.
Not saying something to someone because we’re scared of their response.
Fear holding us back from doing things because “what if” gives us unknown anxiety.
…. so many! We are scared and we live in fear way too often.
What would happen if we just gave it all to God?!
If we just clung to His truth that He has laid out for us!
(That’s easier said than done, I get it.)
So, what does the Bible say about fear?
Here are a few more of my favorites!
- “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self discipline.” 2 Timothy 1:7″ (love this one!)
- “Do not tremble; do not be afraid. Did I not proclaim my purposes for you long ago? You are my witnesses—is there any other God? No! There is no other Rock—not one!” Isaiah 44:8 NLT
- “The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them.” Psalm 34:7
- “You must always act in the fear of the Lord, with faithfulness and an undivided heart.”2 Chronicles 19:9
Print some of these scriptures off or write them down in a place you will see daily, so we can remember God has this thing called life figured out and we don’t need to be afraid!
