ginger & monkey bread

Am I the only one who hasn’t had monkey bread before?! Oh my word, amazing. Sinfully delicious.

We went for a long walk in the woods with some friends, who also have a couple boys. It’s so fun to watch the kids play – the trees and rocks are truly the best playground equipment pieces around. They were up to all sorts of adventures while the adults stood in place watching trying to stay warm.

We stopped halfway and just as my boys were starting to get grumpy and a little whiny my friend pulls out this WARM monkey bread.  It was so perfect and really hit the spot. Just enough sugar and carbs for the kids to keep going! She tells me it’s just rolls topped with sugar and cinnamon. It was so good!

We walked back in the dark and all the kids had flashlights or headlamps which was pretty adorable. It was crazy how many people we saw riding bikes! There were also tons of cross country skiers and we even saw one guy with a dog sled.

My husband brought home some pre-cut gingerbread pieces from his work and the kids and I made some pretty fantastic houses.

Try not to be too impressed with these. I know my talents soar high.

This was one of those days in life where I wish I had a camera recording this whole thing because it was just too funny.

Nothing was working right so in the end we just decorated the pieces individually and decorated them with candy, then ate them later. Enjoy the process… right?  I will have to live with the fact that I won’t be winning any decorating contests anytime soon.

Well the Northern Lights are suppose to be out tonight. I’ve only been lucky enough to see them from my bedroom window once in the five years of living here. This website has a camera set up in Fairbanks, Alaska that at times will show you the Northern Lights going on there.

Enjoy family and rest this week and don’t forget to calm down and soak it all in. 🙂
