If you are not yet listening to podcasts, you must start now.
I am a big believer in the mathematical equation that ideas in = ideas out. I am always reading books and listening to podcasts to grow more as a human, get new ideas and inspirations. This is something that I’ve been focusing on this year. I want to always be learning. Listening to podcasts has allowed me to learn so many new things – both about myself and about the world.
I notice that if I go a few days without listening to anything positive, educational, or inspirational I start to feel a little…. blah. I can definitely feel and see the difference in my brain and how I’m thinking and acting. I know that sounds crazy, but it’s true. Our minds need to be inspired and sharpened as much as anything else. I read books – (like actual real paper books. I can’t listen to them and I absolutely cannot read books on an electronic device. I buy books like it’s gas for my car (read:very often) either off Amazon, from my local bookstore or at Target and price matching it with Amazon. This is another topic for another time because lets be real. Books = life. ) – often and adore them, but if I’m reading I have to be sitting down.
The awesome thing about podcasts is I can listen while I’m at the gym, in the car, or while I’m doing chores at home. There is an insane amount of podcasts out right now and there is seriously a topic on ever-y-thing.
Categories start at finance, housing, relationships, health, government, vegan, business, parenting, reality television, fiction stories, and so much more ….. and the best part? They’re all absolutely free to download!
I’ve included four current favorites below!
The Fit2FAT2Fit podcast is a great one for health/fitness/nutrition/lifestyle topics. They have guests on their show who are chefs, doctors, entrepreneurs, fitness gurus, personal trainers, and just regular people who have a story to tell about how they changed their health and life. I love this podcasts and have learned a ton! So many great ones. I usually fast forward to the 5/8 minute mark to get past the advertisements. 🙂
Impact Theory is amazing. Tom Beilyeu is the co-founder of Quest Nutrition and interviews some really fantastic brilliant people. I LOVE his podcasts and am working my way through every. single. episode. (They’re also all on youtube if you want to watch/listen.) I have discovered some amazing people through his podcasts and then went on to listen to their podcasts or buy their book or stalk them on social media. Really – his podcast is in the top 5 for me right now.
Joel Osteen is preacher so his speakings are christian faith based. His podcasts are sermons he delivers to a live audience and are usually short and to the point. My kids enjoy this one sometimes too if I have it on in the car.
Brains On is a podcasts for kids! We discovered this one on the 5 hour drive to Homer in May. It’s a little science-y and educational, and has interesting topics and answers to questions that every curious kid asks. We love the “mystery noise!”
I’m sure you’ve heard of Dave Ramsey. If you are currently working your way through any debt or just trying to be smart with your money, his podcasts are fun to listen to. He answers callers questions about loans, income, savings, and debt.
Anyways, those are a few of my current favorite podcasts. I hope you made some new discoveries! Do you have a favorite that you listen to regularly?
