How to Start Intermittent Fasting

Have you heard this term floating around the internet lately?

Are you wondering what the heck this intermittent fasting (IF) thing really is??

Well, you’ve probably done IF before without even realizing it had a fancy name! 🙂 That’s what happened to me. I wad doing it accidentally for a few days and then realized I was doing this “thing” called Intermittent Fasting! I started to research it and decided to give it a go, for real! It helped me jump start my weight loss journey and by implementing it into my life (along with diet & exercise) I was able to lose 10 pounds right off the bat in the first month! I was blown away by that success and how much easier in made my life in so many ways.

Intermittent fasting just means that you have set hours when you’re eating (refereed to as your “eating window”) and set hours when you’re not eating (referred as “fasting.”)

IF is not a diet. (hint: this is why it worked for me) IF does not tell you what to eat, it simply gives you boundaries for when you eat. And, the best part about intermittent fasting is that it’s so flexible, it doesn’t need to be an every day thing, and there are many different ways to do it!

The most common types of IF you’ll hear is 16:8. This just means that you have a 16 hour window where you’re not eating – fasting – and an 8 hour window when you’re not eating. If you think about it, this is really not all that crazy. Most of us have breakfast,lunch, and dinner within an 8 hour window… along with snacks after dinner, eating at random times, etc. Intermittent fasting cuts all this out. 🙂 It gives you boundaries! This helped me because I wasn’t eating ALL DAY LONG! By eating in a smaller window, I thought about food less and it was just, easier!
